Yeah, that is why this area (Mountain Road at Fern Street) is one of the most expensive in West Hartford.

While I agree more people are looking for walkable areas, it is not yet the only criteria when people look for places to live. And poritons of Mountain Road near Farmington Avenue and Boulevard are very walkable to stores and services. Jay

JayCT, of course walkability is not the only criteria -- but it is the top criteria for more and more people. With regards to your anecdote, as I've said before, you need to look at prices per square foot and for the amount of land that you get. Of course a house on a 3 acre lot in Madison, CT or Simsbury, CT will be pricier than a house on a 0.1 acre lot in Stamford, East Rock (New Haven) or the center of West Hartford. But the house in central Stamford or New Haven is often far more expensive than the one in the elite suburb, if you compare things equally.
