Shelton's schools rate average to below average in Ct. Some people are fine with them, some are not, it really depends on an individual's preference. Are you looking for "excellent" schools, or are you fine with average? Overall Shelton is a nice small city.

First you would need a job, and a budget, before we really steer you in any direction, though. Fairfield County is really expensive, and while Shelton is a little more affordable than some areas, there are others in nearby New Haven County that are more affordable. We just need more info on what you are looking for.

I know Grove Street. It's a working class area, so it's alright. Shelton is a mixture of affluent, working class and some poverty by downtown. The schools are good but not fantastic.

I think the schools are good relative to the level of affordability in the town. I like Milford and Stratford too in a similar price range. Milford schools slightly better.

Hi "And then there were 3".
I have a job. And a budget.

Now want to know from others who know the area of Shelton, what it is like.
We have 2 prospective places. A lot of communication and photos done online,
as I am out of the area now. One place we may go with. Just want to know more.

~Thanks much

Try to see the area/place in person before moving! I'm assuming you're renting first?

I see the listing on Craigslist. It looks like a decent place for the price but be skeptical of what the landlord tells you, as it says "excellent school system". Don't get me wrong - the schools in Shelton are just fine, and in fact I'd go so far to say they're good, but excellent? Not really. Overall, Shelton is a fine town. I used to live there. You will get a little less for your money in Milford.

Where is work?

Shelton schools perform above the state averages on the Connecticut Mastery Test and slightly above on the Connecticut Academic Performance Test. I would therefore say they are good. You can find out more information at the web site below. th eonly hting I will say about Shelton is that it historically not been good at keeping up its buildings. Some look in need of a good remodeling. Jay
