Homeless mother who sent six-year-old son to better school in the wrong town jailed for five years | Celebrity Gossip News

A mother who pleaded guilty to fraudulently enrolling her six-year-old son in the wrong school district has been sentenced to five years in prison.
Tonya McDowell sent her son to an elementary school in Norwalk, Connecticut, instead of her home city of Bridgeport. The 34-year-old, who was homeless when she was charged with felony larceny last year, said she wanted the best education possible for the boy. McDowell last week entered her plea at Norwalk Superior Court under the Alford Doctrine, which means she does not admit guilt but concedes the state has enough evidence to convict her.

I believe a vast majority of the min 5 year sentence stems from the drug dealing charge. Sensationalism strikes again.

She also pleaded guilty to four counts of sale of narcotics, which will be included in her prison sentence.
In a separate case, she pleaded guilty on February 7 to selling drugs.

Not possession, not using...dealing, 4 counts. My heart bleeds.

It's obvious this woman doesn't have any regard for the law and just does what she wants. Yes it sucks that the child has to suffer because it's mother is a waste.

I agree, JViello. In the end it's the child that suffers. I actually highly doubt that she was living in a van as she claimed. I think there was conflicting stories on that subject and she was actually living with family.

She's in jail for dealing drugs. My guess is it was easier to palm her son off on her friend so she could build her dealing business in Norwalk. So let's stop the nobility claims for fraudulently enrolling a child in a school she wasn't paying for.

I would love for my kids to have the resources that Darien High School has. But I can't afford to live there, so I'll make the most of their school their in and see that they constantly improve.
