Not sure if I am posting in the right area, but since I am talking about CT it's worth a shot.

Wasn't there something where if you were going to sell on eBay or Amazon that there was a tax or fee? Was it for buyers, sellers, or both?

Does anyone know, or can you point me in the right direction? My mother is looking to sell some dvd's online, but I mentioned I thought I heard this. So I am searching for this information to let her know, and I can't find anything.

Thanks!

Whenever we've sold stuff on eBay or Amazon, there was never a tax or fee. You're supposed to declare that income, though, on your tax return at year end.

Hmmmm, did they do away with it? I just remember an article last year about Amazon pulling out with CT sellers because of that.

I think Amazon dropped CT from selling because the new rule is that CT has to charge out of state customers tax as well, while before there was no tax unless you are selling to somebody in your same state.

I think this is what happened I could be wrong.

The selling limit is 200 items or 20k dollars in sales, after that ebay reports the sales directly to the IRS.(at least it was, you can google the info easily)
Other than that, i wouldnt worry about charging tax.
