Longshore's golf course doesn't really have views of the sound though. Just a few small inlets. The Inn at Longshore sorta does but how much would a resident really hang out there? Compo is a nice beach, but I think Jennings has the edge. Better view, better sand, bigger. You want to talk about a golf course with an amazing views, it's Country Club of Fairfield in Southport. Amazing setting. Though not open to the public like Longshore is.

Don't forget that Weston residents can buy a beach parking permit for Westport - a legacy from when they were they same town. Taake a look at what you get for your money in Weston - the market is still very slow there and there are some amazing values.

Longshore in Westport is a town golf course and Weston residents can play there for a modest green fee. Weston has the Aspetuck Country Club which has a very nice golf course. It is a private club, though. There is also the Field Club in Weston, which has tennis and swimming and is very popular with families. There is also a Town swimming pond in Bisceglie park.

Swimming is a popular sport in Fairfield County. The YMCA in Wilton has the Wilton Wahoos which has won national titles on a regular basis. Many swimmers from Weston, Westport and New Canaan compete on that team as well as folks from even further away (Trumbull). Each high school has its own swim team and competes in the county league but for states they are not all competitors (based on size of school S,M,L) I am not as familiar with the boys swim team, but the girls swim team in Wilton has won state titles in their league 3 of the last four years. There are usually a handful of recruited swimmers from the girls team each year (a senior this year recruited for Stanford and has competed internationally). The girls team has been wonderfully welcoming to all level of swimmers (those committed to year round swimming as well as those just on for the high school season. The Wilton High uses the YMCA across street and does not have diving boards, they do have state level divers who train at the New Canaan Y with a Wilton High School school coach, but it must take some dedication to make it work. The high school teams only compete on the one meter board.

Hi - If you hang out in each town it might make your decision easier. There is a lot more going on in Fairfield than some of the other towns. You might want to rent first in a town you like. There are some private swim teams that compete at a higher level. I know Trumbull and Wilton both have private swim teams. Good Luck!

Thanks! i've spent some time at Wilton (because of swim meets) and Westport (because of swim meets). My children are competitive. But I haven't spent any time in Fairfield or Weston.

Westport to New Canaan - 11 miles.
Westport to Trumbull - 13 miles.

Weston to New Canaan - 14 miles.
Weston to Trumbull - 16 miles.

Don't mean to nitpick, but people in Fairfield County often think anything outside of the "gold coast" is so far away.
