Hi all. I have this MBZ Diesel Vito 9 passenger van I bought in Germany and love it. It gets 28 MPG and I sure would like to bring it over. Does anyone know if it is possible? I know that the MBZ/Dodge Sprintre is a bigger version and are available in the states.

Yes, it should be possible. My brother-in-law went to Germany to get his vehicle. You might check with the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicle to see if there will be a problem registering it. Jay

You will first have to find out if it meets US national standards - that would be for emissions and safety features. Vehicles that aren't normally imported often do not meet the letter of the law. There are companies in the business of retrofitting such vehicles to make them importable, but that is very expensive. (One company in California used to buy Brazilian or Mexican old-style VW Beetles and make them US legal.)

I don't know where the rules/lists are but I know they exist. I guess you could start by looking for information from Customs or ICE.
