Looking for a family friendly area in Stamford that is walkable to parks, grocery stores, shops, restaurants etc. I think we are looking at the East-side, Cove and Glenbrook areas. Do any of these fit the bill? Any additional information on these areas, or others that are a better match would be much appreciated.

Glenbrook would. Not sure about the East Side though. Jay

Glenbrook is a nice area. I prefer Springdale, which is a few miles further North, up Hope Street. In fact the area around the Springdale train station is very nice. I don't know what type of housing you are looking for but there are any number of condominium complexes as well as a good mix (square footage wise) of single family homes.

I lived down that way for 4 years. Glenbrook is ok. Whole area is mixed crowd, congested, and lots of sirens mostly because its close to I95 and post road. Head towards hope street and it gets better.

I'd echo what others have said.

However, when you say "family friendly", does that mean that you will need public schools?

Thanks for the responses. We won't be needing public schools for another 4 years or so. More looking for an area that has other young families instead of young couples/singles or empty nesters. We're coming from Charlotte and live in an area where we can walk to parks, restaurants and a grocery store. We're hoping to find an area that will provide us with a similar neighborhood feel. Thanks for mentioning Springdale...I've found a couple places in the area off of Hope Street. We're looking to rent - 2 bedrooms, 1 bath preferable a single family or duplex for $2000 or less.
