Is there a Jewish supermarket down there? West Hartford has one called the Crown Supermarket which is open on Christmas.

Fairway isn't exactly a "Jewish supermarket" in the sense that Crown up in W. Hartford is, it's just perceived as that sometimes since the owners/founders of the chain (it's a small, mostly NYC chain that now has a couple of stores in LI, Westchester and the one in Stamford) are Jewish and they often emphasize their kosher foods section (which is not the majority of their store whereas in a place like Crown the entire store is kosher food) in their flier. For example, you can buy pork and shellfish at Fairway.

While I'm basing this on Westchester, a lot of small 'convenience stores' were open today (especially if tied to a gas station) and since Stamford isn't too far from that I'd assume the same. Also, most "24 hour" pharmacies that have a grocery section of some sort are open today too.

Don't worry, in a few years more stores will probably be open on Xmas the way they are starting to on Thanksgiving......
