Hi there,
we moved to CT last year and now spring vacations are coming and we have to finally make up our mind.
We ( two adults and a 11 year old girl ) have a camper and 9 days.
We love nature, hiking, cajaking, bike riding, would like to do a little sightseeing, we hope for nicer weather, that means direction south, but don't want to go to far (not necessary more than 10 hours ). Near ocean would be great, although its to cold to swim in, so not a must.
We are looking for a nice campground.

Any ideas ??? I am thankful for every hint

Not sure what sort of campgrounds your used to, but I used to go camping quite a bit when I was younger, 9-13 years of age

I always enjoyed Wolfs Den and Black Rock.. They may not be the most remote, but Wolfs Den was nice for what it was.
Black Rock was pretty good too, a lot of kids my age went.

Theres also places like Hammonasset...Sort of a "luxury" camp ground where your site is grass but theres a nice beach there, lots of kids too.

If you want to take a drive, there are some really great places in Cape Cod, some nice wooded areas you wouldnt think about and of course the beach is all over the place. Sadly I cant recall the name of the place I stayed at, but there was a trail that led to the beach and it was around an hour walk to the beach.

Rhode Island also has some great spots, Burlingame being one. RI has always been my weekend/daytrip getaway in the summer. Im like an hour away and the waves are good enough to surf most of the time. Luckily I have friends whos parent have summer cottages in private areas there. This is Charlestown/ Misquamicut area.

You mention 10 hours though so a trip to the Smokey Mountains isnt out of your range lol. This is bear country and you will get fined if you forget that last french fry on the picnic table. Very nice though.

I would check out the Poconos in Pennsylvania.

It could still be quite chilly during spring break, so heading south is definitely a good idea. I'd look into either Virginia or Pennsylvania.
