Is the Warnaco Outlet store still there? I went to UB for 2 years from '80-'82.

Long gone--the building itself is now a church, and the stores that were across from it are gone as well. The old factory itself was turned into condos over the last couple of years that are supposedly 95% sold.

Is Barnaby's pub and the Gazebo ice cream shoppe(I remember an old man who worked there who had a terrible limp) at that brick shopping plaza along with the barnes and Noble as well as a clock store, are those still there?

There was a place called Conty's which was I think on University place toward the end of the campus where it really got run down. Conty's featured fried fish and chips type of food--a really greasy type place. For the life of me i can't remember the street-- on Lafayatte Street maybe, was a little grocery store called Pops. I also remember Famous pizza on Park Avenue had really good baked Ziti--one of the guys i went to school with was mugged sitting at the counter of the place.

This brings back memories of 27 years ago, and i was in the Wahlstrom Library when John Lennon was killed and I heard the news

I'll bet all those places I mentioned are long gone?

Barnaby's and the Gazebo have become a part of the Lofts on Lafayette condo complex and are now residential units, all occupied. Conty's somehow survived in its greasy squalor until about a year ago, when it was sold for the construction of another condo complex. The building still stands exactly the way it was. Pop's is on Main Street at Henry St and probably has not changed in any detail from the last time you were there. And Famous Pizza is still going strong, same menu, same ownership, but now with a bigger parking area.

The south end has been cut off at Main Street by the new Ball Park...The old Remington Razor factory at the foot of main and the beginning of Seaside Park...is to be redeveloped with housing apartments and condos. Contys has also been sold and will be redeveloped into housing of some sort. Pops is still their New Owners....and if you go far enough back..Mr. Johnsons Hot Dog Stand is long gone. There is also a lot of work being done to bring new retail and living areas to the immediate area of the BLue fish Ball Park and Arena at Harbor Yard.Several new condos made out of o some of the old brick buildings...but you still need a heart...to handle the South End....but soon...anyone will be able to join the fun down there.

Park Ave. has lost of few of the old mansions...and no matter who is mugged--Famous Pizza does a banging amount of food ..crowd is still "old neighborhood" . Seaside park was total done over the last few years......residents at the parks have changed-----with Beardsley Park being the most quiet...but even there city tragedys still happen--with the rolling into the water --of a car with its occupants over this summer. The Zoo is now owned by the state...and people visit from all over !
