I'm trying to figure out the distance to walk or bike from Locust Lane to Winding Trails. I see the bike path near that area, and I'm trying to see if there is a way to get onto the bike path right near the intersection of Coppermine and New Britain Ave, closer than going to Red Oak Hill Rd. Can any locals give me the answer?

I've ridden the trail in that portion several times. Short answer--yes, there is an open intersection with the bike trail off Coppermine, just west of the intersection with New Britain Av.

To get to Winding Trails, I would follow the FV trail south from that point, jog over along Red Oak Hill to the northbound entry point, go north along the trail, and get off at Brickyard Rd. This is a bit more distance, but relatively safer as Brickyard is not too busy in that stretch down to Rt 4. That will still put you on Rt 4 for a short bit, but it's fairly wide and has a good shoulder for biking. Happy riding, or should I say happy trails!

Yes, there is a parking lot exactly where Coppermine and NB Ave intersect.

Nice map Reed. Can you do that with htfd colts route? I think it's safer. I suck at posting pictures of maps or I'd do it myself.

Parentologist, do you live on Locust Lane? You've been a great resource for me for the past year and a half as we moved to CT from CA and we have a special needs child.
