Well, I didn't find the Danbury one as obnoxious. Maybe because the parking lot and space is bigger. The parking lot in Norwalk is way too cramped for the amount of traffic that store has.

One of Orange's bigger mistakes.

In all seriousness, and not to diverge from topic, but I would absolutely agree.

DISAGREE.

Told ya it was a load of crap.

There was no proposal, he just looked at it one day and stirred up a bunch of press.

We had a great time in Norwalk!

We were late starting out from NYC so it really was a 1.5 day trip, which I think was just about right.
Sunday we did the ferry ride to Sheffield Island Lighthouse -- this was one of my kids' favorite parts of the trip. Thiere was just enough time on the island to see the lighthouse, explore the nature trails, gather shells, and get back on the boat. And there were pirates!

Next day we did the children's museum and the aquarium. The children's museum compares favorably to the children's museums in NYC and of course it's always nice to see something different. We got to the aquarium only about 1.5 hours before closing. Personally I could have spent more time there, towards the end I was rushing them through it. There was a play area for kids inside the aquarium which we had to skip because there was no time.

I did drive around Norwalk a bit and yea, not much to see in the rest of town. But for our purposes it was a nice little trip.

Also, even though Google says it's an hour from NYC it actually took us 1.5 - 2hours each way because of traffic. If we had gone to Mystic we'd have spent a good part of the day driving.

It's best to do that trip during off-hours, the traffic can be terrible during work hours.

It actually was off hours -- Sunday morning NYC to CT and Monday night from CT to NYC. I just got lucky and there were accidents both ways.

Wow, Norwalk as a vacation spot. I still can't believe it. LOL

Anyway, anyone from out of state that stumbles unto this thread, click here for more touristic things to see and do (yes, even in Norwalk): CCT: Tourism Division

Glad it worked out well. For little ones, you don't need to plan a ton of expensive stuff. Heck, some kids are happy watching the laundry spin around the washing machine.
