I would love to know how State Senator John McKinney proposes to pay for transportaton programs if he cuts the gas tax as he proposes. It is easy to say "I will cut the gas tax." What will be hard is coming up with a new way to pay for transportation. I am so sick of politicains making promises without any realistic plans for carrying them out. Jay

Around here, you might call him "electable."

Sorry we can't get any good Conservatives like Michele Bachman or Louie Gomert on the ballot here for you.

There is so much waste in the system Jay. Its mind blowing the state somehow survived the pre-Wicker years of no income tax. Today we run large deficits most years despite an income tax, 6.3% sales tax along with property tax on real estate and autos.

Wow aren't you a funny one. Actually I hate republicans as well but I pick my evils. McKinney voted to approve the BS gun law that does nothing to make anyone safer so its now safe to assume I won't be voting anytime soon.

Jay, the new "taxes" imposed on us (which is a % of the crude oil price) is NOT going towards any transportation projects PLUS Malloy raided about $100M out of the transportation fund to put towards the General Fund. Working on roads and being somewhat in-tune of what is coming down the road for CT Transportation it is not looking good. Many contractors will be hurting bad and some even will have to back out of CT all together. Look on the CTDOT website, there is 1 large job coming out and a couple small ones, but not enough to grow. Some contractors will sustain and be ok, while some will fold or lay people off. CT is dead in terms of transportation growth. Sad to say because I personally rely on this work to help me survive.

Jay,

He can start by not increasing the budget 10% like Malloy already did. Even after the largest tax increase in state history!

The solution is simple and every Republican has said it over and over and over and over. Cut spending stop hiring state workers cut the EITC cut welfare cut medicaid don't build the Farmington Hospital dont spend 1 Billion on Uconn. Its not like you have to look that far and the politicians are giving solutions if you just listen.

But then they will lose 99% of their voters. How will the career crooks I mean politicians keep control of the sheep?

I agree the voters are like sheep just listen to some of the comments no substance

I don't think people really get the issues and the cause and effect

Wasn't this 'fuel tax' passed under Rell? Wasn' t the New Britain-Hartford bus route also a Roland/Rell brainchild?

Sheep indeed.
