There is till hope for this state but the negative propaganda seems to be over taking everything.
My industry has been shrinking too. It's holding on but the big holding companies don't seem to be all that interested in growing in CT anymore. It was a really strong industry 10 years ago. I think the lack of young talent is part of it, and CT isn't seen as "cool".

There's a reason I work in NYC now. And CT lost my tax income.

Just read the other day that Stanley will begin demolishing 9 buildings in New Britain next month. Everything east of Curtis street and south of Myrtle will be leveled

These buildings have been empty since at least the early 90's. I grew up very close to that area. I can remember (in the 80's) those plants were running 24 hours a day. (Perhaps 16 hrs a day I'm not sure)
I had a girlfriend who lived across the street from one, and the noise and smell was not pleasant.

There was also a "hand tools" division in a small building on Burritt St (next to the RR tracks) that was still operating into the 90's. Plenty of Polish people used to work there. You could see the shift change everyday around 4pm.

PS the old Fafnir building was torn down which is across the street from these old Stanley buildings. The area looks much better now IMO even if most of the lot(s) are empty. Taking down the Stanley buildings is a positive.

Stanley was a huge customer for the company that I used to work for. Did hundreds of thousands of work in a lot of those buildings back in the 90's. I remember driving around Curtis Street before the morning shift change and seeing the hookers waiting for the smelly blue collar guys to get off of third shift..... Not that the guys were bad, but geeze, they just spent 8 hours in a machine shop....

And if you have ever been in any of those buildings, not going to be an easy demolition. I think they were made to take an aerial bomb blast...the exteriors are brick, but the floors are concrete, supported by 3ft diameter concrete columns...

"Henkel said it is working “fast and furious” to complete the relocation of its North American headquarters from Scottsdale, Arizona to Stamford, with plans to move in by the end of the summer."

"In February, the company announced that it was expanding its Trumbull presence by acquiring 24,000 square feet at 4 Trefoil Drive, adjacent to its existing R&D facility at 30 Trefoil Drive. Work there should be completed by early fall, Violi said."

Wife and I just got back from Cali. We found several 3bdr and 2bath houses for $500K with relatively low property tax. Not sure how car taxes work out there. Where in CT that cost about $250K on a property, $6K to $12K in property tac depending where you are living, and about $3K to $5K in utilities. Feel it equals out to the same for COL. Gas is higher out yonder, but get an electric car be all set.

CT isn't a bad State, but for all the money it collects should be giving more back to it's residents I feel.

Average home cost in California is $500,000 and CT is $245,000 half of California cities are expensive.
