Not naming the institution, but the bank where my wife works cut loose about 100 bankers in her region end of day yesterday. She made the cut but is worried. And I see a branch transfer in her future. She called me while on her way to substitute at a small branch that let two of the bankers go. This is not Peoples who is cutting heads because of a merger.

Ct home to 3 slowest growing job markets the last 5 years.
Unfortunately it makes sense.

There is a tidal wave of baby boomers retiring. My husband turns 65 next year and he is in the peak of the baby boom. My older cousins too who are in their 60's. Many are looking at condos/houses down in SC and FL. Some will keep houses and condos up here but their main residence will be down south. Some will be down south all year round 100%.

Less baby boomers = less jobs for everyone else.

Just for the heck of it I googled the states with the fasted growing populations and FL and SC are in the top 10.

Idaho
Utah
Arizona
Florida
Washington
Colorado
Texas
South Carolina
North Carolina

I was with a friend (also a 68 YO baby boomer) yesterday that used to live in the Berkeley/San Fransisco area. He has a brother that lived in San Diego. He said that tons of people are retiring and leaving CA for Texas, Arizona, Nevada (maybe Colorado too). They are escaping the high taxes and very liberal policies of CA.

It is pretty fascinating that the top ten list seem to be where the baby boomers are moving in retirement. It is just something that can't be changed. The baby boomers can't be "unborn" lol.......the die is cast. But CT can take head about what is going on but it seems like they never do that and just keep spending at that same old levels.

Sounds more like "igotmine-ism" from locust generation. Like their generation had nothing to do with insane amount of debt at the state and fedeal level but now running to low tax states. It makes sense but let's not pat them on back while denying the ball of sh#t they are leaving behind for younger gens.

Yes CT Yank you figured it out. All part of the master plan!
Great big conspiracy!!

Hey I vote Republican to try and keep govt small. How does that work out here though.
Blame the politicians who will sell whatever the public at large will swallow. In the end mostly empty promises.

Also not sure how old you are, but my parents like many of the older generation lived very frugally. By today's standards they would be considered working poor. But they were happy and content working each 2 jobs......

Yeah, that is one reason of many there's resentment against that generation...
