What's the cheapest way to get from New York City to New Haven - ultimately to the Yale University Hospital?

I'm assuming buses are cheaper than trains, and I'm assuming there are probably multiple buses. Any suggestions? Is either the bus depot or the train station near the hospital? (I'm fine with, say, a 20-minute walk.)

Metro north out of grand central. New Haven is the last stop on the metro line. You can take a cab to the hospital for less than 10 bucks.

I think the fare is $27 round trip off peak from Grand Central to New Haven. The hospital is a 2 minute taxi ride unless you have a bicycle, which youd be able to chain up.

Here's a schedule for Peter Pan bus from NYC Port Authority to New Haven. Travel time varies greatly and there are not that many runs. Personally, I'd find the train more comfortable as the price is not that different..

The bus stops at Union Station which is where the trains also stop. From there, I'd taxi to hospital.

What are you going to the hospital for? Check in their about section or do a search, they may have a hospital shuttle/van from the train station or some other plan in place. Usually the vans and things are for cancer or other terminally ill patients but occasionally those with routine procedures, low income or no area family can catch a ride. If it's not in their website give a call to the main concierge desk.
