Hey, I currently live in RI and am thinking of moving at some point this year into my first home, and I was looking at areas just over the border in CT. The towns I am interested in moving to are Sterling, Voluntown, Moosup. I also am thinking of on the border towns in RI, namely Foster, West Greenwich, Exeter, and Hope Valley area. I have many questions, but one question I have is, what is the difference, or, what are the pros and cons of living in say Sterling CT, as opposed to Foster RI? Thanks!

What's your budget? What sort of home do you want?

Sterling is a very small town - population about 3,000. They have a K-8 school in town, but kids can then go to Plainfield or Killingly High Schools, or Ellis Tech HS.

My budget is about $80,000 to $150,000. I do not have any children and I am not married, but would be moving in with my significant other. It would just be the two of us. We aren't looking for anything fancy or huge obviously.

To be honest, I know very little about those towns in Rhode Island. So, I would not be able to compare them to those towns in CT. Based on household income, Voluntown is a bit wealthier than Sterling. But, it's even smaller than Sterling at 2,600 people.

Moosup is a section of the town of Plainfield. Plainfield itself almost 2.5 times bigger than Voluntown & Sterling combined.

Voluntown seems really desolate, but so does Sterling, but at least with Sterling you are closer to Warwick/Providence and Plainfield/Putnam etc.
