As you know, New Haven is the fastest growing city in New England clocking a 6% growth from 2000-2012. Bridgeport grew about 2.4%. When will that day come when New Haven takes Bridgeport. When if ever will Hartford will rechallenge Stamford for 3rd largest?

My prediction for 2050:

1. New Haven
2. Hartford
3. Stamford
4. Bridgeport
5. Danbury
6. Norwalk

What do you think?

I see Bridgeport turning around sooner than Hartford. And I hope Bridgeport "turns around" much sooner than 2050.

Hartford is starting already Monday Hartford will made announcements about major deveoplments in the city that starting this spring. I don't see Bridgeport turning around anytime soon due to corruption and other reasons. Downtown Bport need a change with luxury apartments, shopping, better restaurants, nightlife, maybe some office buildings but unfortunately due city leadership that not happening anytime soon but I hope downtown get better. Black Rock has it little thing but it still struggles.

I don't know Danbury's growth rate, but, I feel like it'll be #4 by 2050. Anyone know of a site with detailed statistics?

On second thought, maybe #5 is just right. The population difference between BPT and Danbury is quite high right now. 35 years may not be enough.

Where's Waterbury? I just don't see Norwalk or Danbury surpassing Waterbury.

Per this site (and multiple other sources) Stamford grew 6.9% from 2000-2012 while New Haven's population expanded 5.8%. Stamford is the fastest growing city in the state full stop.

Stamford is the place to be, it is the real city in CT.

Yet, I would hate living in Stamford more than any other city in CT. It's so....institutional, plastic, overgentrified and loaded with annoying yuppies. The apartments are tiny and it's like $2,000+ a month just for a 1 bd unit. Also, that stupid Landmark Square mall is somewhat ghetto, and the parking is a pain. The Target requires you to pay for parking and it's just a hassle to deal with. I hate Stamford with all my heart. I'd rather live in Norwich (seriously).

I base where I live on economic opportunities, not Targets and "malls". You are also being hyperbolic in choosing Norwich over Stamford.
