Anyone have any recommendations for a specific accountant/firm near Simsbury (Hartford county area), or even a financial advisor firm that offers that service? We've been using a guy (not an accountant but a lawyer) for the last several years, but the last few years I've been doing all of the heavy lifting for him, his rates have been going up, and he's made a couple of mistakes that I've caught. I actually have found that I enjoy the entire process of crunching the numbers and learning about the whole thing (not that I enjoy paying taxes AT ALL), so part of me would like to just do them myself, but this past year especially is a bit more complicated (e.g., refinanced the house, multiple state taxes, some restricted stock units that vested), so I'm thinking I should play it safe and use an "expert" at least one more year.

If you can't recommend someone specific, I'd also be interested to hear what you'd recommend I do for finding someone. A Google search turns up a bunch of CPAs, most of whom don't have websites. Yelp and Google reviews seem to come up empty. And even Angie's List has almost nothing to offer.

I do not know anyone near the Simsbury area, but, I do know of a good one in my area (Newtown).

sorry, most of the accountants I know in the area are corporate accountants working for the various insurance companies or UTC, ESPN, Stanley, etc.
