Just like college, it's not for everyone. In fact only a small percentage of people are cut out for that. You have to want to be there and LOVE the excitement/rush. The same type that wants to join a police swat team or get dropped out of a plane into enemy territory. Rambo, but team oriented. The worst thing you could possibly do is just join the military just because you need college money/lost in life.

Much more noble and greater cause than bumming around your parents house, being subsidized by our taxes on section 8, or burning up 8 credit cards for 2500/month in rent.

Putting rent on credit is insane.

Walmart is subsized by our taxes. Our schools are subsidized. Our roads are subsidized. Our police are as well. It's a big piece of a pie. We have a free market rental economy that doesn't work for a lot of working people around here. Period. Either start paying people 15-20 bucks to start in new haven or have vouchers so someone can get an apartment at a reasonable amount of their weekly pay check. In nyc, many fireman/police/teachers/nurses are on section 8/subsidized housing. That's how bad the "free market" is doing when it comes to housing in these cities. And it's gotten MUCH worse over the past few decades. You can talk ideology all day long, but that's the economic reality.

I wish I could respond but these guys love giving me warning points for off topic posts. You win for now while I play sheep.

Nothing wrong with living with your parents, just get a job or go to school. College and Military were mentioned but not trade school. You can earn a decent living as a Communications Tech, Electrician, Plumber, HVAC, or RN. As others have mentioned, you will not make it with a minimum wage job that doesn't require any skills, especially in CT, and even more so in a major city. Well you might make it, but it's not a quality of life I would like to have.
