I can think of some ghost legends in the Monroe/Easton area, but not sure that really fits with what you are looking for. The "ghost hunter" Lorraine Warren (who along with her husband worked on the Amityville Horror case, among others) lives in Monroe.
Try doing a search on "creepy connecticut" for some local legends. They had a web site that listed a whole bunch of things like the "little people's village", Dudleytown, and other haunted areas of the state.
Bill Romanowski went to my high school and will go down as a legendary steroid user and wife abuser...but I know thats not the type of legend you were talking about. Sounds like a cool project, is it for a class?
I was at Barnes & Nobles the other day. They had books on "Weird Connecticut." They're the best source, really, if you want a lot of material.
