so who has the best pizza in the state i thought it would be fun to see how many answers we get, and also great for us to check out places we never knew existed

me i live in the central ct area pepes opened in west hartford not to long ago its one of my favorite places for ny style pizza hands down the best

for greek style its town and country in new britain or pizza world in berlin (formally of farmington)

i am not a huge fan of chain places like dominos pizza hut papa johns or little cesars they are good in a pinch when you have so little cash to spend on a pie, but not a regular go to place.

I'm not understanding the choices?

Out of those, I think Sally's is the best pizza in the world - I just wish their service was faster.

Purists would argue Pepe's is New Haven style, not NY-style (foldable crust).

Having tried the Pepe's in WH, I would rate Harry's BC, Harry's, and Joey's right up there with it. For Greek-style, I would go for West Side Pizza in Rocky Hill (very obscure)! Among chains--other than CPK, I avoid them like the plague.

Pepe's/Sally's/etc are absolutely not NY-style. NY is a less-well cooked, larger, usually greasier style. Very good, but very different.

Some of the best places in CT (not necessarily my favorites, just highly rated places), of various types, since this poll obviously doesn't cover them:

Sally's (New Haven)
Pepe's (everywhere)
Modern (New Haven)
BAR (New Haven)
Colony Grill (Stamford)
Vinny's (Waterbury/Middlebury area)
Roseland (Derby)
Zuppardi's (West Haven)

I'm sure there's more than what I'm thinking of off the top of my head...

If it is a quick pizza experience, just Pepe's or Sally's is fine for me. If I want an excellent pizza, I go to the Bronx.

The Modern is my favorite for a red bacon & mozz. For white clam, it's Pepe's.

I'd say that Marco Pizza is among the best in the state (Branford and Derby), and Joey D's in New Haven is also excellent.

Did you register on behalf of the Bronx tourism board?

Hah yeah, I was even thinking of the location of Derby when I wrote Meriden. My bad.
