I am running out of time as my lease is up in a month where I currently live!!! I have been reading the boards daily and researching hour after hour (in between packing).

I accepted a job at Stamford public schools and need to move from Manchester. I use to commute from hamden to stamford and I HATED it!!! So I would like a small commute (less then 30 minutes) if possible. I do have to be at school before 7:30 so that helps but school doesn't end till 3 and I often stay late to plan ect.

We are a same sex couple with a 10 year old Yorkie and planning on starting a family this year.

Our Wants
1. Rent no more than 3000 a month and that is high we currently pay 1744 where we are now, but I will be making 8000 more a year. My wife does not work she is disabled.
2. Dog Friendly
3. Central Air and Gas Heat (do not want to pay high oil bills)
4. Washer and Dryer
5. 2 bedrooms with a spot for office
6. Garage

My wife wants a garage to work she likes to work with wood crafts ect and we do have a TON of things to be stored.

I would like a townhouse as I do not want to worry about snow removal and the grass, but my wife would rather a house.

Are their any townhouse communities that fit this? I found Avlon townhouse to be over priced and my dog would be 50 more a month. I have been looking on Cragislist, realtor.com zillow name it i've looked.

Train is not an option as it is not walking distance to my job.

I would honestly rather not live in Stamford I don't like to live where I teach.

You have a laundry list of "wants". I hope it's not an inflexible laundry list. Gas heat is few and far between. Expect to pay a pet deposit and perhaps some extra each month for a pet. On the other hand, a Yorkie is so small you should have little trouble getting a landlord to agree to him (or her). Be flexible on a commute.

I looked quickly on realtor.com and found these. They hit most, but not all of your wish list ( heat may not be what you want )

Those Avalon style apts usually don't have private garages. Perhaps Condo complexes in Greenwich, Wilton, or Norwalk. New Canaan and Darien not friendly to the marital union. Most complexes allow smaller dogs and will have electric or gas heat.

I think what Raider was trying to say is that NC and Darien(and Wilton) are extremely homogeneous("Stepford") communities that are nothing like what you're accustomed to(Manchester/Hamden). Stamford, although you don't seem to want it, would work well. There are plenty of nice neighborhoods in Norwalk as well.

Ultra conservative towns that I would not recommend for same sex couples. Does that clear it up or you? Didn't think it was rocket science to figure out.
