I graduated Fairfield U in May, and moved down to stamford last August. I currently have a 2 bedroom (with a roommate) in downtown Stamford right on Summer St. It's a few blocks north of the bars. It's a convenient location, but I really don't like it anymore. It's way too city like for me, and I want a place with more people. Also, I am paying way too much for a rather boring and small place.

About me: 22yr guy. Very Social. Love going out. Really want a house, I HATE apartments. I need my own yard, driveway, etc. Love the beach!

I'm looking to live with 2-3 other guys. Most likely there will be 4 of us. Could possibly end up with one more or one less. I really want a place near the beach, but I don't know much about Stamford beach. Is there a real beach area, or is it more just docks for boats? I found one place in Dolphins Cove (?), which actually is a beautiful area and the rent is really cheap, but I think it's just the 2nd floor of a house, and I'm not sure if I'm keen on the idea of sharing a house with strangers.

Also, it seems like the night live down in the cove is pretty great during the warmer months. Are there places nearby this that are nice? I know some of (i think its called) Shippan are beautiful, and some are utterly disgusting and poor.

I know prices go down with more people. So, we are hoping to pay under $1k/mo per person, ideally after utils. Right now I'm paying like $1100-1200 after utils for half of a 2 bedroom, 875sqft or so condo.

A lot of places seem to be in the glendale area (exit 9, cortland ave area), and I feel like there is nothing over there. Also, a fair amount are up High Ridge and up near the merritt. I wouldnt be opposed to those, but again I dont know if anything is really around there.

Where would you recommend looking in Stamford?

FWIW - Last year I lived on Lantern Point on Fairfield Beach. It was a great little beach cottage and I had the time of my life. I considered getting a place up there again, but I work in Greenwich right now, and some of the other guys work in White Plains and Darien, so the commute is pretty miserable. Also, the night life there (outside of the college kids) isn't all that great. However, I would love to live there again if the commute, etc, were easier and may end up looking there anyway. Id love a place similar to this.

I think Seaside Avenue is what you would be interested in.

I think the OP is looking for a general recommendation in Stamford, as opposed to a solicitation from a "professional" steering him elsewhere.
