So narrowed down to Torrington and Middletown. The commute in AM rush traffic from either to east Waterbury?

Any thoughts? Which would be better? Google maps is saying 30 min on either but I'm wondering from those that have driven it.

I don't think Torrington to Waterbury would be 30 minutes - more like 15-20. I haven't driven out that way in a few years, though, so I can't say for sure.

I am not too familiar with the Torrington area, but according to google it is a quicker drive than Middletown. Also, there is more population in the Middletown area, which would mean more traffic.

However, Torrington is in Litchfield county which is known for getting more snow since it's more hilly.

I'd go Middletown hands down, especially if you're younger.

For a commute to the east end, Middletown will be easier. 84 can be a real pain in Waterbury in both directions in the AM, but it's easier to get around any bottlenecks if you are traveling from the east.

Torrington is an easier commute, but Middletown is a better town.

Middletown. Middletown is a better city overall. It is in the center of the state and its someone close to other urban centers. Torrington's dead. I grew up in Waterbury, which is about 20 minutes away, and I have only been to Torrington 5 times in my life.
That says a lot; there's nothing there.

I would disagree with the above poster in regards to Torrington being an easier commute. It is very annoying getting to the East End from Torrington without using I-84. I can show you many different ways to get to the East End from Middletown without much congestion.
