You can build it right next to the semicircular roadway that connects Milford Pkwy to Wilbur Cross Pkwy - means it's easy to access from Wilbur Cross/Merritt/Milford Pkwy, Route 1 and I-95. In a place where five major highways meet, a rail station is a no-brainer.

Another one who does not know this area. That circular road is part of the Milford Connector which is a non-access highway. You cannot connect to it. Plus the tracks are at a much lower elevation down a steep cliff. Not exactly accessible. That cliff prevents easily building a station in that location. Then there is the question of who would use a station at that location. People in the area could more easily drive to one of the stations on the main New Haven line. So enough of continuing the discussion on this unfeasable nonsense. Jay

It would be nice if one could take Metro North commuter trains all the way between Hartford and NYC without having to change to Amtrak.

Agreed. And while I'm glad to hear rail service will be coming soon, I also wish it was an extension of Metro North. I've been using MNR for 15 years and have never had an issue. They're reliable and stick to the schedules. I can't say that about Amtrak, which I haven't had the best luck with in the past.

Eventually that may become a reality. Ridership seems to go up each year, so enough people use it, who knows. Maybe it'll happen in the future.

That would cause quite a hit to Metro-North's timeliness ratios - direct Hartford-GCT trains would have plenty of territory along the way to get delayed due to trespassers/Amtrak interference/etc.

An interesting note, once the Hartford line is completed, one could take commuter trains from Springfield, MA all the way to Philadelphia.

Take the Hartford line from Springfield to New Haven.
MetroNorth from New Haven to NYC.
NJ Transit from NYC to Trenton.
and SEPTA from Trenton to Philadelphia.

Newark,Delaware and one day all the way to DC. But that would take 8-12hrs...vs a 4hr Amtrak Journey. One day in the future it should only take 2hrs from Springfield to NYC..

That would be cool, but we should be careful what we wish for.

If it was viable to commute Hartford to GCT this area would become Long Island and housing prices would get jacked up. Housing is already high enough here as it is.

To me viable commute time would be 90 minutes one way. I don't think that's possible, but you never know what the future may hold with advances in technology.

Right, but at an off-peak time if each leg of the trip is $5-$10 it might be worth it for some.

Here's a map I made about a week ago that shows housing processes from Philly to Boston.
