Thread update.

It's been well k era a year, but the suits from Brooks Brothers have not held up all that well. I can't see that the quality is much better than what I would have gotten at Men's Wearhouse or Jos. A Bank for less money.

The work,a ship on the buttons is shoddy and some have popped off. Worse, the pocket on one of the jackets ripped the second time is wore it. On another jacket, the lining is shredded at the bottom. I have a lot of suits and don't wear any one suit that often, so all this seems an indication of low quality for a high price.

Stylistically, the pants legs are very wide, which is out of style now. I do prefer a more tapered cut for the pants legs.

Back to the drawing board. Maybe an Internet site like Indochino or CombatGent would work better?

I used to wear predominately BB with a few higher end suits (Brioni, Hickey Freeman), but truthfully you can't do better than Suitsupply. 300-500 per suit before tailoring. The quality and tailoring is second to none and my peers in private equity are convinced I'm paying a significant multiple to my actual cost. Midtown and Greenwich are the closest locations.

Thanks! I just recently learned of Suitsupply.

Went to Mens Warehouse recently. They have some top brands like Joseph Abboud among others.

Theory suits, dude. Guarantee you'll look sharp and 10 lbs thinner. My SO and I don't wear anything else for suiting. Unless you want to pay $800+ retail, go check out the Theory outlet in Woodbury or a local Nordstrom Rack. I usually pay just $150-200 for mine but I've had the luxury of shopping around a bit. The Rack usually has a ton of other suiting options too if you don't like Theory. White Plains has a Theory store (The Westchester) and also a Nordstrom Rack within a few blocks of each other.

JCrew is also worth a look IMO though I haven't bought one from there since I discovered Theory so IDK if their quality is the same these days.

I've had very good luck at Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack. You might also want to try the Bloomingdales Outlet in Manhattan.
