The state is getting ready to begin construction on a massive technology based industrial park on the UConn campus in Storrs. The Bond Commission approved funding for the first building, a $131.5 million Innovation Partnership Building. What do you think? Will this be a boom or a bust for UConn and the state? I think it will be good. I only wish it had been built years ago. Jay

I haven't read the link, but have they taken care of the water supply issues for the Storrs campus?

UConn is already a pretty good school in technology/engineering, if I recall, so this will hopefully enhance that reputation. I was up in Storrs last summer and was amazed at how much has changed since the turn of the century 15 years ago. (I used to go to UConn men's and women's games through most of the 90s, as well as some soccer matches, but marriage and fatherhood stopped that - so, I don't think I've really been back to campus since the year they first won the men's championship in 1999.)

Yes they have taken care of the drinking water supply issue. I believe that is what delayed this project for so long. As I remember they will be constructing a water line from an adjacent watershed to serve UConn. It may be from Windham. Jay

Sounds like it would be a dream place to work. Hope it gets filled quickly with interested companies.

I was at UConn in the late 80s and I believe they were talking about building something like this back then - so, it's taken over 25 years since that time to actually see that light at the end of the tunnel.

That's an oddly shaped building. It kind of has the same shape as IKEA in New Haven. No?
