It depends on what you call conservative and liberal. If you are referring to the wacko leftist entitlement mentality so common in the Northeast, which creates a sort of slavery by building generations of dependency, then you are likely correct. If you mean respect for human rights as opposed to the "it is for the common good" whatever that means, you are not correct. Heartland states typically have more respect for the individual, and tend to stress self reliance. West Virginia has not had capital punishment for 5 decades. As far as I know they just did away with it in Connecticut this year.

Also whoever told you Connecticut favors landlords is WRONG. The state views landlords as someone with money and renters as being poor so the courts always put the burden on the landlord. Read the laws before you speak.

Coz Cob has ghettos? You have to be kidding me. Are you making this stuff up? Did even try to get your son in a votech program? I doubt the only votech classes available in that high school were janitorial. That makes NO sense. Did you even bother to do any research before you moved there. You should have to be sure the closest school offered programs that suited your son. Jay
New Fairfield High School had a multi million dollar septic system that failed, causing massive pollution. That did not pollute the entire town's ground water (I never said it did). The rest of the town's ground water was polluted by septic runoff from more than 19,000 people living in a small town and every one of them using septic tanks. They do have septic systems in some rural, sparcely populated areas in West Virginia. I am not aware of a single town with a population of more than 1,000 that does not have public sewage and federally standardized water treatment facilities.

Cos Cob has zero ghettos. Across the tracks though, in the next town over, people live in slums. Cos Cob has inbred elitist wealth and yachts. That wealth is not shared with the neighbors, unless you count the tips for the folks who wait on their tables and maintain their yachts for them. My son worked there for a period of time.

Exactly, I haven't flown or attended a professional sporting event since June 2001. There is just too much else to do.
Actually we do have minor league baseball here (NY-Penn League), and at tonight's game there were 2,935 in attendance. We are 1 hour 15 minutes from Pittsburgh (it would be closer but there are always traffic jams at the tunnels there), and 3.5 hours from DC/Baltimore. Wheeling has a minor league hockey team and is located 50 minutes from Pittsburgh. We have outstanding college sports, and for the most part support Pittsburgh major league professional teams. Our minor league team is a Pirates affiliate, and it shares the ballpark with the collegiate West Virginia Mountaineers baseball team.

There is a huge difference between northern West Virginia and sourthern West Virginia, and the populated parts are separated by about 133 miles of what is essentially wilderness. In the southern part of the state, they generally support the Cincinnati teams. Also, the area east of the mountains (we call it the Eastern Panhandle) is essentially suburban DC/Baltimore. It is in a different climate zone, has a different character, and they support DC or Baltimore teams.

We so have commuter air travel to DC, and vacation air to Myrtle Beach and Orlando from our area. They are in the process of adding 1,000 feet to our local airport which will make collegiate, business, and commercial travel more accessible here. That project should be completed around 2019.

Cos Cob is full of "inbred elitist wealth and yachts?" LOL. That's pretty funny.

When did this happen???? Seriously I'm not not being facetious, but I've lived in New Fairfield for almost 20 years and I have zero recollection of such a catastrophe. News to me that my, and the rest of the towns groundwater was contaminated, or that our high schools "multi million dollar" septic failed. We also don't have anywhere near 19,000 people living in town. Are you sure you're remembering the right town?

Your posts are almost laughable. As Lalalally noted there was no big septic system failure at New Fairfield High school that "caused a crisis for the entire town". That is what you said. Also New Fairfield has never had 19,000 people. It's current population is under 14,000. And I highly doubt that towns in West Virginia with 1,000 people have public sewers. Sewage systems are very expensive and lower density areas simply cannot afford to install sewers.

Cos Cob is section of the town of Greenwich which is a very affluent town. Cos Cob is located almost dead center in the town so across the way is Riverside which is NOT a ghetto by any stretch of the imagination. And the other side of the tracks is also part of Cos Cob and also not a ghetto. It really sounds like you are making stuff up. Jay
