Haven't seen ours for a few days (mid September). Just brought in the feeder to clean and reload, but I'm wondering if they've headed south. I will maintain it until the weather gets cold, for any late migrators. Anyone still seeing their hummingbirds?

One flew up to our planter outside our kitchen window the other day and hovered and then took off. It was the first one we have seen in the 5 years at our house. It was actually pretty awesome because I have never seen one up close before.

I had one visit the feeder last weekend. Not sure about this week though -- I usually notice them on weekends and at times when I'm typically at work M-F. I will take note tomorrow/Sunday though...

I haven't seen one in awhile despite adding 3 feeders around the house! I just made new nectar today and will see how that goes. I'm not home much right now. Last time I saw one was when I pulled the feeder down, he showed up right where it had been and hovered looking for it! I just stood still and held it out, but he finally went for a flower instead.

I love it when that happens. I've been dive bombed by a being that weighs under an ounce, defending his feeder! Just incredible creatures. We always await them eagerly each spring, and miss them when they leave in the fall. For anyone reading this, just buy a humzinger 8 oz feeder for about 15 dollars.

Boil 6 oz of tap water (to kill bacteria and fungi). Add about 1/4 cup of sugar, stir, cool, and fill feeder. No need for food coloring. Hang near a window where you spend a lot of time - like the kitchen slider. It helps to hang up a pot of red flowers, preferably trumpet flowers, near the feeder. Put it out in mid to late April. Clean and change feeding solution at least weekly, so that you don't give the hummingbird a fungal tongue infection. And voila! You will probably have hummingbirds to enjoy all summer.

Yes, ours are still quite active. We have at least two that I see every day.

Saw one last week looking for nectar in the flowers. Filled up my feeder but I don't think they've been by. They usually take off around this time. I'll leave the feeder up though for the stragglers.

P.S. I had to move the feeder to a higher location after the bear got in on my deck!

I never see them at all! I didn't even realize they were around here. We had tons in Texas.

Oh yes. Lots. Put out a feeder in April, and they will show up.

That being said, my feeder is now half empty! I was out all day yesterday, so I didn't see them. But they must still be lingering around.
