If this happens those in FFC can also go to Westchester Airport too as an option:

Norwegian Air CEO Wants To Offer $69 Tickets To Europe By Flying Out Of Cheaper Airports

While it is only to Edinburgh and a small airport in Norway, I believe the ultra-cheap Ryan Air flies out of Edinburgh for possible connections.

be warned on Ryan Air, though. We booked some flights on Ryan Air last year and the carry on size they allow is much smaller than your standard airline. So, your standard duffel bag that can be carried on for your US airline or non discounted European airline is likely going to cost you an extra 25-35 Euros to be checked. If you have a family of four, that can add up.

Norwegian Air flies A330's. Those could land at Bradley, but, runways at Westchester are too short-- not to mention they don't have the passenger handling ability for planes that big.

Honestly, Norway is just random. They would have better success flying into Luton or Heathrow.

With lower prices, people would go through the trouble of connecting in Oslo to their final destination. Aer Lingus uses this model pretty successfully. Many times I've connected in Dublin to save $400.

Bergen is one of the biggest tourist destinations in Norway, that is where all the Fjord Cruises depart from. Would be great to fly directly there than to have to go through a European hub/

That goes for every European airline, not just Ryan Air. European carriers also actually enforce the carry on rules, unlike all of the US carriers.

Which is why, it seems, flights board much faster in Europe than here.

Yes, but their carry-on size was much smaller than the standard allowed by most other airlines. We flew from Paris to Rome and then from Rome to London and then from London to Paris, and the other two European airlines we took allowed us the standard carry-on size. (We also from from JFK to Iceland to Paris on Icelandic Air, and then on the return to JFK and did not have a problem, either)

I suspect these rates are available in Norway because a $69 flight into London would not be possible.

Looking up stats a couple lists point that Heathrow (LHR) is the third busiest airport in the world.
