As I said it's gotten better, but still isn't stress free.
I don't live in South Wilton. I'm in the NoNo section of town (North Nod Hill). 730 is a little late for my tastes, I'm usually at my desk in midtown by that hour. However my wife is on route 7 from Cannondale through the Norwalk border 5 days a week between 8-9 dropping kids off at school or other morning activities for the little ones. It's not stop and go or even aggrevating. Then there is today which was green all day for rt 7 while every other major road was purple.

Today is Sunday, which means local commuters did not pack 7 south early AM or north PM. The highways were packed today due to interstate travelers.

My other half regularly travels it [to 95] and, while its not nearly as bad as 25, it is stop and go during rush hour south of 35. Cannondale is well south of the headache.

Today was a very heavy travel (and shopping) day that severely stressed the roads in state. Route 7 passed with flying colors. Traffic was abysmal everywhere today, including the secondaries (25/9/8 etc).

Different traffic patterns on a Sunday after a holiday weekend than a weekday morning/evening rush hour. Not sure how this can even be debated. Get back to me when your morning commute takes you south of the 7/35 intersection.

Don't think there is much demand or urgency for a Rt 7 highway, maybe except for people in the Danbury area.
Wilton and Ridgefield certainly don't want it nor should they. People near the coast don't care much about going to Danbury

A highway to Danbury would open up more affordable housing options for people working in Stamford or Norwalk. The reason people on the coast don't care about Danbury is that it is too hard to get to. Jay

Which would make 95 even worse than it is now with all the additional vehicles dumping into the 7/95 interchange. No thank you. The better option is to improve the service on the Danbury branch.

Well and the Coastline is a lot nicer than Danbury to live in.

Depends on the individual town. Ridgefield and Redding are a lot more desirable than Norwalk IMO. Danbury is a solid little city as well.

Nah, that's not it, most people don't care or have any reason to go. Rt 7 as is is suffice for an occasional trip to the mall.
