Good day all:

I was hoping to get a referral for a divorce attorney in Stamford/Norwalk area. One child, age 4. Only asset is a condo which is in my name. Husband is incredibly spiteful and an angry individual so the only thing I want is to raise my child in a peaceful environment and get back my sanity. I don't have a lot of money and would like to find an attorney who will try to make this as smooth and as amicable as possible. Thank you!

It's going to be a long battle if he is spiteful and vindictive. You may need to temporarily live apart, you won't have access to many of the financial papers etc so make copies now when he's not looking and put them with someone safe. Plan ahead financially, plan for one year, the state requires 90 days from one of you being served before any dates are set. Likely you won't start your parenting plan until 4-5 months in. You will not be able to open new accounts once you have filed, so if you need a new credit line in your name only, a rent, a new car, etc you want to do them in advance. You will want to have an email address and cell phone that he cannot access, this means no family plan phone. Change the passwords to all accounts in your name only. Obtain a firesafe that you can stash somewhere hidden or with family, put your passport and other documentation, along with marriage certificate, will, etc. as he may try to destroy them and you need them in the divorce. Do not use a computer he can share, as he may try to install spyware to capture your info.

There are some good videos on the state of ct website talking about divorce. If you Google divorce spiteful spouse or angry divorce it'll also give you advice.
