LOL Yup! I used to deliver for Domino's which used to be there on 25 at the Monroe/Trumbull town line and there would be sometimes it would take literally 5 minutes to make a left out of the parking lot there.

Danbury to Bridgeport - Rt 53 to Rt 302 to Rt 58 to the Merritt north for a couple of exits ( I was mistaken with Rt 6 previously). Almost a straight shot down.
Going out to 111 or Derby would be a long roundabout way.

I think if you're going to downtown Bridgeport 111-25 would be faster. Since I live in that triangle in Trumbull (south of the Merritt, West of route 8 and east of 25) and commuted for 4 years up to Western Connecticut in Danbury I had a fairly good timing out the route.

I would go up Booth Hill Rd or Daniels Farm & Moose Hill to 111 to 34 to 84. To get from my house in Trumbull to the 84 entrance ramp would take about 30 minutes, give or take 5 minutes depending on the traffic and how long it took me to make the left on 34 from 111. From there to Western Connecticut it was about another 20 minutes, so add that up, and we'll say 50 minutes, and subtract 5 minutes coming from downtown Danbury. From my house to downtown Bridgeport is about 10 minutes, so the 84-34-111-25 route to downtown Bridgeport would take about 55 minutes.
I would go home 34-8 every once in a while, that would take me about 60 minutes. So we'll say 70 from Danbury to Bridgeport going 84-34-8.
Getting from downtown Danbury to Bethel High (which is about where the 302/58 intersection is) is about 10 minutes. 58 from there to the Merritt is another 25 minutes. Merritt from there to downtown Bridgeport is 20 minutes at a good time. So that's about the same as the 84-34-111-25 route.....AND that route you'll have to account for traffic which you wouldn't have to account for on the 34-111-25 route.

I just google'd the 3 routes (111-25, 34-8 and the 58)

84-34-111-25 will take on average 47 minutes; 53-302-58 would take on average 48 minutes, but as said previous you have to account for traffic as that time is at a good time (like 11:15 at night); 34-8 would take on average 54 minutes. So, not one stands out more than the other.

For comparisons sake if you went straight down 25 that would take on average 44 minutes, but good luck if you get stuck behind a truck!

If going during rush hour I would side with the 53-302-58 option just a bit over the 84-34-111-25 route. In snowy weather though I would stick to 84-34-111-25 though. I would also use that route if the OP needs to stop somewhere for food or coffee or to run errands. They should probably try both and see which suits them best. Jay

Even though it'll take a lot longer, if the road was really bad or your car isn't good in the snow, I'd take 84 to 8 and keep it all highway. Remember in Stevenson, you have to drive up that big hill on 111, and generally highways are better to drive on than town surface roads.
