I found the aquarium worth it, the seaport...not so much.

I think to appreciate the seaport fully you have to be into sailing and old timey ships and etc. Whereas, the appeal of the aquarium is a little more universal. If you could only do one I would pick the aquarium.

Awesome amazing time! Love that area of CT. Mystic and New London hands down best part of CT. I mean have great food, little traffic (minus some beach and tourist traffic), and lots to do between sports/comic/history/shopping/gambling/music/relaxing. Best beaches and waterways in the State. Amazing locally owned B & B'S.

We actually started our trip at East Coast Tacos, hopped over to the Book Barn, then the Book Barn in downtown Niantic, then to Olde Mystic Village, and then downtown Mystic.

Haven't been to Downtown Mystic until I don't know when. Amazing food and shops. The park and area near the water was AMAZING!

Drawbridge traffic kind of annoying ha and chaotic.

Had some amazing food at Pizzetta!

Then did the Ghost Tour learned some interesting history of the area. Awesome time doing it again!

I mean the whole area beats out rest of CT. Only downside is kind of why we are thinking of moving up to Gloucester/Cape Ann/Salem area is closer to college's once we settle into our careers. There is not much in terms of public higher education in the area.

The Salem area not too familiar. I know they have a lot of local shops and same with Cape Ann area. Figure like Mystic mostly close down after tourist season is done. You still have local amnenties for Mystic area you have the 2 outlet malls, a mall, 2 casinos, and a lot of outdoor activity area's. A few local eateries stay open. You also have the beaches and waterways.

Easily the gem of CT. I have relatives from California who I've taken there and are impressed. Thanks for the recommendation on Pizzetta!

UConn has a campus at Avery Point in Groton. Also Three Rivers Community College in Norwich and Eastern Connecticut State in Windham. Jay

Still for individuals wanting to go into healthcare field your options are limited. You have Norwich CC for an associates degree, Avery Point for an accelerated BSN program, and accelerated LPN program at the Tech school in Norwich. Then you have Storrs, which is a haul.

Every hospital on that side is owned by Hartford or Yale (2017) so you are required to have a BSN.

I mean fiancée and I have considered moving out there finish school out there. Since her work place is building 2 new locations one in Mystic and one in Storrs area. There are a few job opportunities in Norwich and hopefully 2017 when my current employer moves out that way will be more job opportunities. We considered that we could take a chance of myself going into the Accelerated or Norwich ASN program.

However, it really is just the college part holding us back. We have 4 to 6 LPN programs at least 5 to 30 minutes from Waterbury, 3 public 4 year BSN programs in the Waterbury area or 30 minutes away, 5 private BSN programs, 3 to 5 accelerated programs, and 4 community college RN programs.

I mean rent is cheaper, property taxes are cheaper, less people/traffic most of the time, and more to do outdoors. Will gave to see what happens fiancée will probably keep her normal hourly pay as a LPN if we go that way. For me though it fluctuates if my employer is finally allowed by the State to merge with a hospital out there and a job in my field comes up we can probably move out that way.

That is not a public college. It is private. You can also add Mitchell College also in New London to the private list. Jay

If you'd like to mingle with locals and not venture too far off the beaten path John's Mystic Tavern on 9 Cotrell Street is an excellent little watering hole. It's right off West Main Street which is the commercial tourist area of Mystic just east of the Mystic River. It's one of my favorite pubs in Connecticut.
