This town suspended a guy for talking about another workers heritage.

Suspended another for using the F word when talking to another worker.

Yet, there are a few employees who have gone out of state on the taxpayers money to conferences and have taken friends and relatives with them to stay in rooms paid for by the taxpayer. And those in charge have turned a blind eye because they are all friends.

Do you consider this stealing ??

I do.

Remember this voters of Manchester when the time comes. It is time to rid the town of these crooks.

Most businesses these days would not tolerate these issues either. Also there is nothing wrong with town staff going to conferences and bringing family or friends with them. The town is not paying the extra costs. They pay for a room for the town staff to stay in. Why would they have an Issue with someone else staying there too. Does not cost them more. Nothing ollgal with that. Jay

I don't see the issue with having family stay in the same room. The room would have to be paid for anyway.

What's the issue with bringing someone to stay in your hotel room with you? It's no out of pocket expense to the employer or taxpayer. The room would be paid for either way.

Believe me, there are much bigger issues within any towns politics. I agree, a room is a room, but if the town foots the entire package, there is a problem....it's a small problem considering what you'll find when you catch wind of what goes on behind the scenes....nothing new

I don't see a problem with it either, since the cost of the room most likely is the same whether one or two people use it.
I could see an issue with meals though, if the town is only expecting to feed one person. That can be easily solved though by having the other person pay for their own meals.

There are far bigger corruption issues to worry about than sharing a hotel room.

Yeah I've done this in private business and so have many of my coworkers. You just need to pay for everything that would not have been incurred if only one person was traveling.

Manchester has some interesting local politics (a fight broke out at a meeting last year) but overall it does not seem any more corrupt then any other town in the state. In fact I would say of the 3-4 towns I've had extensive dealings with for work or home, it seems to be the least. It's amazing in a few towns how well certain family's have been able to control local government for a century or more.
