Source for Maps: Keep in mind it goes by Satellite snow cover the next morning. So there's typically melting happening after the "accumulated" snow event of course this time of year. Sometimes we would get snow but these maps show nothing the next morning. Doesn't mean it didn't accumulated during the event.

Lets begin. I hope you guys appreciate this... took some time and they aren't all events....and only past 7 yrs. Accumulating November snows happen!

October 29, 2011: (I know, technically not November).Coastal storm with arctic air. We don't have to relive this memory.

11" in Brookfield
5-7" in Danbury
6" in my backyard
2-6" in New Haven

November 7, 2012: Coastal storm with cold air around.

Snow "accumulated" Widespread 2-6"
8.3" at Bridgeport
7.2" in New Haven
6" in my backyard:

November 13, 2013:

1/2" accumulated in my backyard.
Scattered about everywhere else. Not a big storm

November 23, 2013: Blizzard like squalls scattered in CT.
Scattered accumulations. 1/2" in New Hartford

November 15, 2014:
Light stuff around but accumulated 2-4" in Litchfield.
1/2 - 2" around Hartford.
None in my backyard

November 26, 2014: Big coastal storm with enough cold air around.

3-6" accumulated in Hartford county.
2.5" in Shelton.
Only 0.3" in my backyard

November 19-20, 2016:
3-8" in Litchfield.
1" in Ridgefield
0.4" in my backyard

In Closing... Jet Streams don't usually merge until Mid Fall... The hot Southeast ridge usually still strong so its hard for the Northern Jet stream to dive down and give us the cold needed for snowstorms. This is why storm tracks are usually over land, and not off the coast in November. When they are off the coast, most times the Polar Jet Stream is weak and there's no cold air. Interesting to see the weather patterns play out.

Lastly... All Years at the Bridgeport coast with snow accumulations in November. Tough at the coast so figure there was more around points away from the coast those yrs. Snow in November happens and does accumulate when setup is right.

Yep..proves the point EXACTLY..SNOWSTORMS in November are RARE. THANK YOU.

And yes. as I STATED. It does snow in November...we know that...its not COMMON.

Quick update on the storms this week...

1st... Been outside enjoying this all day!

Not a cloud and 40s. Perfect..

Tuesday storm...

Tuesday 7am the storm will be over Delaware with a track on land. The green color over us = temps above freezing at 5000'. So this is a rain event. Winds will be from the South transporting warm air. Cold air off to the west rushes in behind it and could set the stage for Thursday night?

Friday morning a storm will be around....but where. Latest Euro says it's too warm. Cold air is north of us. Still early to know details with this one. We'll see if there's any changes. Either with storm track or cold air in place.

Need that freezing line (thin red line/my sqiggly black line) to be south of us and the storm off the coast. Simple as that.

Exactly, neither of us said never. I would think they are about as rare as storms in late March/early April, that is, uncommon but far from impossible.

Yeah, mark it down as a "T".

Guess what...... German model and new FV3-GFS says snow Thursday evening & night. Will Euro start showing it???

ICON has been very "swingy" run to run. I do not trust it at all, except for temperature forecasts. IMO the FV3 solution doesn't seem right, the area of low pressure seems to be too broad, and these both had big shifts on 18z runs. Red flags for me, but I guess we'll see in the 0z. Though I have been wrong many times so far

Right ..I'd equate mid November snow with early April. Late November with late March .
