Florida does well because the climate appeals to many people. If Florida was cold and snowy, it would not be growing so much. But that's another topic.

Wrong. Florida economically for decades did very poorly, with the same climate. It's now up to 11 on this vital list in 2016, Ct is 43.

Some changes, Connecticut 33 in 2017. I noticed a few states really moved up or down this year.

Florida primarily has a boom and bust economy. When times are good, it does well. But when times are bad, the economy tanks big time. It was hit hard in the last recession. The saving grace for Florida is its retirement population. Retirees have flocked there for decades for cheap living and warm weather. Without that, it would be a much different state. Jay

33 is pretty good for a state that some say is unfriendly to business. Could Malloy be doing something right? Or is it that our economy is finally recovering from the recession, later than other states as usual. Jay

Just 64% above us now.

Thanks, Daniel.

For any of us, if 64% of your colleagues at work outperform you, you are likely on a P(erformance) I(mprovement) P(lan). Next likely step: Fired for cause.

I don’t know where you work but that is about average. This is not a performance rating, it is a ranking so being 33 is middle of the pack. Companies I know do not fire 33% of their employees do they? Jay

I think Connecticut still has fewer jobs than in 1989.
