Meh idk he was a child and still died. It’s tragic even if it was his fault. When I lived in Indiana a bunch of young boys were playing by a construction site and found keys in the ignition of a piece of equipment. One of the boys fell into a device that killed him. Parents sued and company settled. I knew the family and felt bad for them. Their boys was old enough to know better though.

That's not the same thing as stealing a car and driving it at 100 mph on local streets. One is mischief and the other is several felonies, and a major danger to innocent people.

Exactly, dazzleman. This kid was driving in a stolen car, committing felonies that would land him in jail [as an adult] for years to come. It’s unfathomable that someone is trying to compare the two.

You know their tactics, they downplay criminal behavior by comparing it to something minor.

Default Newington, Wethersfield police investigate rash of car break-ins

They need to do something about this. It's really getting out of hand.
For those that like to blame the victim, what are you going to tell them now?

“It looks like they just didn’t even look to see if you had anything valuable, because I didn’t have anything valuable. They just smashed a lot of windows, and then went through the glove box, rifled through the car and then went to the next one,” she said

There was a car stolen in my area. We always park in our garage, plenty of my neighbors still park in front of their homes (we all have two car garages) and leave the keys in. Most are investing in cameras, Dh spoke to ADT and they are selling theirs for $100.

It was more important for the Legislature and the Governor to get a “ Police Accountability “ Bill into Law as fast as they could. Perhaps they should have worked on a Criminal Accountability Bill instead.
Slaps on the wrist leave marks that go away quickly , and are then quickly forgotten. These crimes are the consequences of a misdirected ideology.

Where were you guys when Malloy and the legislature were debating changes to the juvenile justice system ? This goes back as far as 2015.

Open google and type in the search bar "Malloy revamps juvenile justice system" You will get at least a dozen articles.

In the meantime stop leaving keys in the car.

We were right here on this forum discussing it and writing to our lawmakers.

Also, don’t victim blame. Place accountability where it’s due.

No one on this forum was talking about this. No one contacted their legislator either. The people here were too busy complaining about Malloy and taxes.

Malloy had a budget to balance and reforming the juvenile justice system was part of it.

IF knuckleheads didn't leave their keys in their cars they wouldn't be getting stolen. The knuckleheads deserve everything they get.
