I'll start with 2 in Milford, 1 here a long time I just tried. Very good food, run by nice folks.

Mikes Italian Deli on Red Bush Lane and Bert's Deli on the Boston Post Road.

Mikes are run by 2 Met fans, for which I give extra credit.

I don't know how much it's changed since I was last there in 2011, but King and I Thai in Hartford. It was a hole in the wall at the time and I hope that it still is. A delicious hole in the wall. You had to be prepared if you went during the winter -- the building was so poorly heated that the owner would bring a space heater over to your table when she saw you turning blue. She was lovely and the food was beyond delicious.

Mike's is pretty good. I like Seely's too.

Seabreeze in Milford is my #1 by far. That place is incredible and slept on. Don't know how it's not packed every night. He's a culinary teacher and his specials are amazing.

A few in Branford:

Le Petit Cafe for fine cuisine and intimate atmosphere.

The Stony Creek Market on a sunny day for brunch or pizza with a view of the Thimble Islands.

Marco Pizzeria for very good New Haven style pizza without having to make the trip to Wooster St.

Darbar India, where I have always gone for Indian food.

Didn’t realize Stony Creek did brunch. Lovely location.

Six months ago I would have said Piatti in Glastonbury. Good food in an out-of-the-way location, but they closed last fall and now an upscale pizza/classic arcade place is coming there. Jay

Here's a couple of genuinely high quality, out of the way gems, Indian restaurants that are well-known to desis, but not among the general population. Which means you're not going to find chicken tikka masala (which originated in Birmingham, England, by the way...kind of like "chow mein" being considered Chinese food lol). But these are the closest I've found to the authentic experience:

Udupi Bhavan - Indian Vegetarian Restaurant - Quality Service & Outstanding Food at a Great Price.

My favorite lunch stop is Love Heart's Bakery in Litchfield. Everything is made from scratch, friendly to those with dietary limitations, and awesome.
