It is about 35 miles from Madison to Colchester, much of which is on slower back roads. Though I see the lowest drive time Stylo says is what Google estimates, I would say it is more like 45 to 60 minutes depending on the time you are driving given how much of the drive is on slower back roads where you can encounter traffic or school buses. Madison is very long in the North-South direction, so you would take different routes depending on where you were living. If you were in southern Madison, it would be fastest to take I-95 to Route 156 in Old Lyme, and then follow the local roads north. If you were leaving from the northern part of Madison, it would be faster to take the local roads and cross the CT River in Haddam. The range is something like 45-55 minutes, regardless. Most times of year, these drives would have nice scenery along the way.
