I am in the process of relocating to CT from Michigan. I lived in New York City for nearly 10 years, and Michigan's economy is the worst in the US.
I have extensive experience in marketing/communications/advertising.

Where can I start? Are there companies that will relocate me or consider out-of-state candidates? I would consider moving on my own dime if I can get a foothold in the state.

Any advice would be appreciated--I'm focusing on the Stamford area, but will consider any area with a significant opportunity.

It depends on how much money you have to spend up front in getting a job & established here. Stamford and lower Fairfield county are great places to live; and have a reasonably good economy these days- but the costs can be very high.

Advertising & Marketing near NYC and in Stamford will probably go far- it depends on how the economy goes.

The New Haven area is more focused on health care, education and bio sciences.
Greater Hartford is Insurance, finance, & some Marketing. The Hartford area will have the lowest living expenses of the three, and have less traffic and stress.
