So, for those of you who posted in the past year or months that you regretted your move from the northeast to the south, have you had a change of heart?

Are you more inclined to stay now where you are or still have the desire to go back "home" to the northeast.

My family and I have an opportunity to go back and we're in the process of investigating things.

Interesting question. Only you can determine if this would be right for you. You would have to weigh the benefits of the job change, housing options and the quality of life. Not everyone is the same. Good luck making your decision. Jay

We left CT 3 1/2 years ago and moved to Florida. We're moving back next week. Not really by choice, though I AM sick of the heat... DH lost his job down here and we're doing what we have to do. He has a job in CT lined up. I'm happy to move back, but I'd also be happy if we stayed here... There are pros and cons to both places.

I hope you make a decision that you are happy with.

I sincerely believe that culture has alot to do with it. The Northeast isn't the South and vice versa. I will miss the weather of the south and how much square footage you can have to dwell in. However to be able to get to the Met and shop in Quincy Market and hit Broadway I will live in a 2x2. I was talking to a woman when I was in Manhattan a few weeks back and she stated most folks don't appreciate the city while they are here. Boy was she right!

I'm moving back from Austin this winter for work reasons, but I'm happy and relieved to be going home as well.

Everything I disliked about the northeast I now miss. Loud New Yorkers in the airports on their cell phones. Crummy looking buildings that are so empty and unkempt that they are just barely holding onto their charm, but they still are. Small italian restaurants with ugly clip art flowers on their menus. It was everything that I wanted to get away from. I wanted new restaurants, tons of them, hip developments, and quieter nicer people, and honestly I still LOVE of all that and LOVE Austin, but it will never be home. I wish 'home' for me wasn't in CT, but it is. It is familiar and that's worth so much to me I've realized.

Good luck deciding. It's a tough decision. I've been back for a few weeks looking for somewhere to move to and already miss the warm weather, but life has a way of putting you where you need to be.

Well, I am in the same boat as you and in a year or so, we are headed back up. Well, thats if we can sell the house we bought. However, I do have some advice for you. Enjoy the time here. This is not a bad place , just very different. Take the time to recognize you are getting to see a different lifestyle. Appreciate the warmer winter. ..don't make yourself miserable. You'll look back and be glad the time you spent in the south was not somethnig you made unbearable. Take solace in knowing you are moving back at some point... I am looking forward to going "home" but am savoring my time here.
