My husband and I and 2 daughters (ages 7 and 4) are planning to move from RI to CT as soon as my house sells (we just accepted an offer). My husband is from Branford, CT and we were originally going to move there, but now we are reconsidering that area because it doesn't seem like there are very many job options for me (I work as an Executive/Administrative Assistant). He also has family and friends in Shelton, CT and we are now considering that as well. It seems like Shelton and the surrounding area have better job opportunities.

I am from NY, so I know very little about CT. Can anyone help? We would like something not too far from Branford, but with good job opportunities for me, decent schools for the kids, and decent places to live.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Liza

Well you might consider Milford. I am not sure where your husband is working but Milford is very nice and convenient to New Haven as well as many jobs for you. Jay

You really need to give us a housing price parameter before anyone can give you meaningful information.

Shelton sounds like a good town for you. There are many jobs in Shelton, and if you can't find anything in Shelton, you're close to New Haven, Bridgeport, Norwalk, Danbury, Waterbury and Trumbull. It's a very centrally located town, probably even more so than Milford and Branford.

Shelton schools are good and people in town are friendly. It's a bargain for Fairfield County.

Default Me too!

My husband is actually from the town we live in in RI, but we are moving to Eastern CT. I am so curious - how did you like living in RI? And HOW did you sell your house!?!? There are five houses for sale on our cul-de-sac and we all have waterviews and beach rights. Those houses are just sitting there. I think we may just keep ours and rent it out!

Move to Trumbull...decent priced homes, fantastic schools. Check them out on greatschools.com The shelton schools are questionable. IMO I'd pick Trumbull or Fairfield great towns with plenty of parks. Fairfield has the beach and Trumbull has 2 community pools with kiddie water parks and playgrounds, tons of walking trails, dog park, etc. You can also go to Fairfield beaches from Trumbull...15 min drive and about $100 for the season. The pools however are free to residents. All about the family and schools!

Shelton is a very nice town once you get to Huntington and White Hills. Schools for that area are very good. I am also a realtor that has a house for sale there. It's a 3000 sq.ft custom built colonial on 1.76 acres. You can get hold of me at Celina1960@aol.com
