I was browsing Redfin listings and came across an old house in Salisbury that looked eerily familiar to me. Then I remembered the 2009 horror film "The House of the Devil". It was a small independent movie directed by Ti West, who also went on to make "The Innkeepers" set at the Yankee Pedlar Inn of Torrington.

Well, lo and behold, the listed house is the very same one used as the titular house:

The movie is little-known so I'm sure it isn't effecting the house's marketability, but I doubt realtors are advertising its history as a locus of demonic worship. Personally if I had the scratch I would buy it for myself.

Yeah, it's a super cool house and pretty much identical inside to the scenes in the movie. Been for sale for a long time.

It's right next to Lime Rock Park so I pass every time I go to the track.

Cool! Pretty sure I have exterior pix of it from the mid-late 80s, from a trip to LRP.

I just lost two-hours of life that can't be returned. No wonder why I never heard of this turkey. Terrible.
That's precious time in CT.

House looks great though. Would love to check it out.

Same here, thought it was really well done and different from most horror movies, which are usually pretty bad.

It was nice to see Dee Wallace again. Check out The Howling from 1982

Yeah. More bad than good for sure. In recent years the James Wan stuff is decent. And Robert Eggers and Ari Aster have some great stuff. A21 has interesting horror overall.

You mean A24? Sorry about the petty correction but I'm a major fan of their movies. Especially the Blackcoat's Daughter and the Witch. I did think Hereditary was a tad overrated.

Victorian houses tend to look a little spooky, but stately at the same time. That particular one is beautiful.
