Don’t ignore these statistics because of political bias.
This is simply a small, but accurate sample of the Democrats war against law abiding citizens in favor of felons.

*eyeroll* Right back at ya, re:bias. Yes. If you are a chronic violent offender, you are aren’t going 10 years. Given the tremendous barriers and challenges to reentry for anybody with a record, I’m perfectly comfortable with this for people who do that.

I'm perfectly comfortable copying lists such as kidyankee764 provided showing all the violent crimes white washed, as well as articles on convicted felons who committed the crimes, as well as the copy of our state representatives votes on the bill.

In most cases, for the House a shift of a few hundred votes pushes the election the other way.

Target: Parents with young children, and voters 60 and older.

Those who lose will never be elected again. This vote will not go away on their record. I view their loss as taking out the trash.

I don’t think you realize how the justice system in Connecticut actually works. There are many violent offenders who are “catch and release” and do not see more than a year or two with good time.

You’re failing to acknowledge the statistics provided.

I am exactly you are trying to angry with this. I’m an upper middle-class suburban voters with kids. Until about 2013 I was an active Republican in Massachusetts. I was a delegate at the 2010 MA GOP convention. I voted for Brown 2x and Baker 3x. The fact that this was a party line vote doesn’t make me want kick out the Dems. He just turns me off the GOP more than I already am.

These guys just love FUD.

Convicts have always been able to apply for a pardon and/or have criminal convictions removed from their record. This new law is to expedite/automate the process.

How do I get a felony off my record in CT ?

"1. Absolute Pardon: You may apply to the Pardons Board for an Absolute pardon, which is an absolute erasure of your criminal record three (3) years after the date of disposition of your most recent misdemeanor conviction and five (5) years after the date of disposition of your most recent felony conviction."

Republicans won't touch this with a 10 foot pole at the next election. It took me 3 minutes to find this info and I'm not a lawyer.

There is a certain eligibility that’s required to qualify for “absolute pardon” and the vast majority of criminals do not. You also must prove yourself to the pardons board. A pardon must be applied for and is strictly reviewed, unlike this law that ensures it regardless. Big difference.

It's getting to the point where I'm reading that people think anyone who commits a crime should basically be removed from society for good due to recidivism statistics.
