I am thinking about parking in the Stamford Station parking garage from Friday evening- Sunday morning and taking MNR into the city and back. My questions are: What are the weekend rates and more importantly, is it considered a safe parking garage in which to leave a decent car overnight and for that duration? Thanks.

Google "Stamford train station parking" for the most up to date rates.
Yes it's perfectly safe, many do it.

Believe it’s $10 a day, cash only.

Many smaller stations are free on weekends.

It's been a few years since I've used Stamford station, but it's extremely safe. It's right in the heart of Downtown, and there's always people around there at all hours going back and forth to the station. It looks like it's $8 a day to park there.

Check this out. Hope this helps!

Thanks to all. It looks like Greenwich station has parking which is free on weekends so I could try that also.

As a rule, most stations with lots (not garages) are free on weekends.

Darien, Westport, Fairfield, Stratford, Milford, West Haven, all free on weekends.

$8 or free. What't the difference, it's the same thing. That's a pretzel and a soda from a street cart. Just enjoy a weekend day in NYC, what's better than that

The garage at the station is perfectly fine. I think it's $8 an hour up to 24 hours and than $10 for each day after that initial 24, but as Stylo says its cash only.

If you don't have cash or just don't want to pay, just go one station up to Noroton Heights or one station down to Old Greenwich. Most stations have free parking after 12 PM, and all day Saturday, Sunday & holidays, but verify that before hand.
