This tragic story seems really odd. The police ran a double homicide narrative initially but the ME seemed to rule in record time that it was a murder suicide. Committing suicide by stabbing yourself in the arms and torso is certainly unconventional. There was certainly a lot of strife between the mother and her ex.

The ex was trying to get the mother out of the house after their romantic relationship ended. It had been denied due to the restrictions against evictions due to COVIC.

I don’t know the full story, but will say that suicide by cutting your arms is not at all unconventional.

That’s not what I said.

In the arms, yes, it’s extremely common, unfortunately. It’s also far more common in women. And while stabbing in torso is rare, it happens.

The police department initially investigating as double homicide is how it’s done - in police work, you treat every scene as worst case scenario until it’s proven otherwise. That way, if the ME confirmed worst case scenario, you have proper evidence, photographs, crime scene logs, etc. should the case go to trial.

I don’t think we should be embracing conspiracy theories here. The office of the ME has no skin in the game so I would trust their findings.

I know that’s not what you said - but it is what I said initially. No interest in conspiracy theories full stop. However I have come to expect protocol to start with suspicious before declaring a double homicide. Hope you had a great Father’s Day

Did they declare a double homicide, or investigate it as such?

I’m talking about the initial investigation by the police department. Being declared such is different than being investigated as such.
