Hey all,

Recently a slippery elm tree on our property had to be taken down due to Dutch Elm Disease. While it's a tragedy to lose such a beautiful tree I now have quite a few very large logs that I hope could be milled. Do any of you know someone who could do this?

Thanks so much for your help!

I was actually just thinking about this. It's a way from you but there is a guy I think in East Windsor. I've never been there but have heard of him through the grapevine.

Try Treecycle - it’s a mobile sawmill, based in Bethlehem but they definitely do work in Fairfield/New Haven counties. They have a Facebook page

If you’re the DIY sort, you can setup a chainsaw to mill them yourself. I am going to try this and have ordered the parts. Helps to buy/order a ripping chain for the purpose. I don’t think I could transport the logs anywhere myself, even if I wanted to.

There's a mill on Route 7. They may come get the logs.

BTW...a had a tree guy drop off some logs for me for firewood. I didn't know what they were until I started splitting them. Elm. Horrible horrible wood to split. Great heat content though.
