15-Year-Old Shot at Danbury Fair Mall Is in Stable Condition
https://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/...azoaJABQFODC8Y

There are criminals and people who are up to no good who are coming to all the malls from other areas causing all these problems.
I know about that. I know both malls very well - the clientele in Danbury is a lot different than the clientele in Bridgeport, which is who mostly frequents the Trumbull mall.

There have been regular brawls, robberies, and carjackings at the Trumbull mall the past few years. That’s very uncommon in Danbury. Your one post about an isolated shooting is considered very uncommon in Danbury, and is the only major crime to have occurred on Danbury Fair Mall grounds in quite some time. Sorry, but the same cannot be said for Westfield Trumbull. Full stop.

Can you post all of the things you are speaking of in the last few years. Thanks

To say the word "regular" is misleading. I live in Trumbull and I read the papers, patch every week. I don't see these things on a regular basis in the past few years. Maybe you are combining the Milford and Trumbull mall information?

Don't you live down south now and for the past few years?

"Your one post about an isolated shooting is considered very uncommon"

I don't remember an innocent bystander getting shot at the Trumbull Mall and I have lived here over 20 years. That is pretty significant thing IMO.

"Police believe she was an innocent bystander in a fight involving at least eight people."

Trust me on this one thing. No town is going to be safe from these things if they have a mall. These people who are making trouble at the Trumbull are coming from far away towns to these mall. I am sure it is the same thing at the Danbury Mall.

That is why Trumbull made a zone change to completely change our mall area into a little downtown instead. The apartments at our mall are already under construction and significant changes to what the mall looks like will be done I bet in the near coming years.

No, I am not “combining the Milford and Trumbull mall information”. I have seen firsthand the crime that goes down at Westfield Trumbull. I have not seen the same occur at the Danbury Fair - not even comparable. See below:

And these major incidents are only in the past few years - I could go on. Sorry, this sort of stuff is not common in Danbury no matter how you slice it.

About 14 years ago, I thought I was going to be carjacked at the Trumbull Mall, on a Saturday afternoon in broad daylight. I was heading to my car and a man was advancing toward me rapidly singing violent rap lyrics very loudly. I rushed into the car and locked the doors. Luckily, I was very close to my car and he wasn't able to catch up with me.

There's a certain amount of riff raff that frequents the Trumbull Mall, and it hasn't been helped by the decline in the quality of stores there. The situation near the Food Court seems to have improved from what it was with the area surrounding the old food court, but I know that things still happen there. I generally limit my trips there to during the day.

To the OP - The big dividing line in Trumbull is the Merritt Parkway, which is on the extreme southern end of town. The mall is south of the Merritt, closer to Bridgeport, and most people in Trumbull would advise you to live north of the Merritt Parkway. I wouldn't want to live on top of a mall in any case, with all the traffic issues.

My nephew has a friend who bought in Trumbull just a bit north of the Merritt Parkway, off Main Street, and it is a beautiful neighborhood. Trumbull is a very nice town and I wouldn't hesitate to live there myself, though I would avoid the eastern side south of the Merritt since that's near a Bridgeport Housing Project. I would not rule out south of the Merritt on the west side, which is adjacent to Fairfield and a better section of Bridgeport, but I would be picky about buying there because of the mall traffic.

Generally, people who live in Trumbull don't really consider the mall to be part of their town, from what I have heard.

My brother in law who lives in Fairfield has a similar story, and also avoids the Trumbull mall.

I do want to point out for the OP, this discussion about the mall has zero to do with the quality of Trumbull, as a town. It’s a very nice, family oriented place to live. The mall is, for what it’s worth, barely part of what makes Trumbull, Trumbull.

I don't have the time to look up all the crime at the Danbury Mall. I don't follow that area and have no clue what their local papers are. but hopefully this will settle the matter. You know most of the crime in Danbury (which is a very safe city) and Trumbull is coming from the malls.

Here are the crime states right from this site and you can see that the crime is less at the Trumbull Mall.

I am going to go even further than that. I am going to call the Trumbull police and Danbury police and say I want ALL THE CRIME GOING ON AT EACH MALL.

Don't forget Trumbull (pop 36,827) has a smaller population so if the Danbury Mall (86,518) was safer those stats should be much lower.

BTW if you don't want to go to the Trumbull we also have a mall with a second Target (Trumbull has 2 Targets), Kohls, Best Buy, and various other stores.

I wrote this in my first post and it says just about the same thing.

"I would buy above the Merritt Parkway. I believe the more north you go the safer it is but you could check with the Trumbull Police for that.......The mall is south of the Parkway. The Parkway is natural border to the rest of Trumbull because there are only a few streets to get into Trumbull from below the Parkway. And the police are sitting on those streets."

While Trumbull overall is a nice town (though the areas right on the Bridgeport border can be marginal), unfortunately kidyankee is correct about the mall. There have a been a lot of incidents going on there through the years more than most other malls in the area, even malls closer to NYC. In fact, many of their incidents have been on the NYC TV news stations.
